Nonprofit Montgomery! seeks to build the collective strength, visibility and influence of the nonprofit sector in Montgomery County in order to create and just and caring community. Our goal is to build a vibrant social network of nonprofits that enables individual nonprofits and nonprofit leaders to view themselves as part of a larger community that is tackling issues that affect us all.
Convening on Montgomery County's Budget:
During this time of extreme fiscal challenges—the state of Maryland is facing a possible $1.7 billion deficit and Montgomery County a $400+ million shortfall—The Montgomery County Community Foundation has asked Nonprofit Montgomery! to work in partnership to create a budget briefing/strategy convening after the March 17 release of the executive budget and before the public hearings to be held by the County Council on the operating budget, April 7-10. The convening will focus on identifying the crosscutting gaps in the proposed budget and the most effective ways for the nonprofit community as a whole to address these gaps during the budget approval process and beyond.
Nonprofit Montgomery! maintains its focus on procurement in Montgomery County:
Increasing nonprofit knowledge of savings available to nonprofits contracting with the county such as the ability to use county rates for Office Depot. Our goal is to also expand knowledge of other opportunities, include printing and bulk mailing services for small and mid-size county-based organizations through the Clarksburg Correctional Facility. Research and advocacy to expand nonprofit access to other types of cost savings on specific commodities through partnership with the county. Working with the Department of Procurement to develop, for the first time, briefings specifically designed for nonprofit contractors. The briefings will include: writing effective proposals for the county and contract administration.
