Strategic Priorities

The Strategic Direction of The Nonprofit Roundtable: 2007 - 2011

Background: Where We’ve Come From

Since our founding in 2002, the Roundtable has been building the strength, visibility, and influence of our region’s nonprofit community.  Toward that end, Nonprofit Roundtable Members, Board, and staff have advocated on behalf of the nonprofit sector, supported and connected nonprofit leaders, conducted sector-wide research, and been at the forefront on important regional concerns like emergency preparedness.  We are pleased with our beginnings, but we are not satisfied.

Looking Ahead: Where We Are Going

As we focus our priorities through 2011, we hold firm to our mission to strengthen the region’s nonprofit community.  We believe even more fervently that by working together we will create a more just and caring community in Greater Washington.  With that as our goal, we commit to lead together to achieve the following:

1) We will promote the value of nonprofit organizations and the expertise of nonprofit leaders so that regional leaders in government and business are convinced of the impact of nonprofit organizations and influenced by the knowledge of nonprofit leaders.

2) We will develop and support strong nonprofit leaders to direct effective organizations who will lead together to create more just and caring communities in our region.  We believe that strong leaders with enhanced skills and support and who share a strong common bond, will better communicate the value of the sector, lead coalitions, and serve as boundary-crossers with leaders in other sectors.

3) We will support and ally with local nonprofit coalitions in order to better unite the region’s nonprofit community toward common priorities and a stronger collective voice.

4) We will advocate and facilitate strong relationships between government and nonprofits throughout Greater Washington in order to better collaborate, maximize resources, establish priorities, and best serve all of our region’s residents.
