2006 Events
  • On Dec 1, the Roundtable’s Policy Series hosted a lunch with Virginia House Democratic Caucus Chairman Del. Brian Moran (D-46). He offered his take on the Virginia budget, what the political landscape looks like going into the 2007 Virginia state elections, and then engaged in a Q & A session with Roundtable members.

  • On Nov 9, the Roundtable hosted a 'Regional Election Analysis' with WTOP's Mark Plotkin.

  • On October 13, the Roundtable co-hosted a Disaster Recovery and Information Technology Workshop with NPower Greater DC Region for about 50 nonprofit leaders.

  • On September 22, about 40 Roundtable Members met with James Dinegar, the Board of Trade's CEO. 

  • On September 15, the Roundtable accepted an invitation to meet with DC Police Chief Charles Ramsey at the DC Metropolitan Police Training Center.

  • On July 19, over 80 nonprofit leaders attended the Washington D.C. Region Town Hall meeting co-hosted by the Roundtable and the Center for Nonprofit Advancement.  Robert Egger (DC Central Kitchen) and Audrey Alvarado (National Council for Nonprofit Associations) opened the session as guest speakers to talk about the need for a collective nonprofit voice and how the Nonprofit Congress came about.  Small group discussions were held to address the questions provided by the Nonprofit Congress. 

  • On June 8, the Roundtable held its Annual Meeting and a highly attended DC Mayoral Forum. The Forum included 4 candidates for mayor in the District of Columbia, and the audience had the opportunity to pose questions directly to the candidates. In addition, winners of the DC Appleseed Competition presented their proposals addressing specific problems in the District.

  • On April 25, the Roundtable, the Meyer Foundation, and the Center for Nonprofit Advancement hosted an event tailored to address issues faced by nonprofit Executive directors according to the recent survey report, Daring to Lead 2006.

  • On March 21, the Roundtable co-hosted an event about multi-tenant nonprofit centers with the NonprofitCenters Network and the Nonprofit Finance Fund. This workshop provided an overview of the mission, governance, planning, financial and real estate considerations involved in creating multi-tenant nonprofit centers.

  • On February 7, the Roundtable hosted an informal luncheon with Stuart Etherington, Chief Executive of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations, “the umbrella body for the voluntary sector in England.”
